Chota Char Dham, A Getaway to meet Moksha

Taking the Chota char Dham yatra in Uttarakhand is a journey to attain peace. The four holy abodes which come in this Char Dham yatra are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Thousands of devotees do this yatra every year. These places are surrounded by natural beauty and the Himalayan ranges.

All these four temples are dedicated to different gods and goddesses. There is a tradition of closing these temples in winter and the reason behind this is that these places receive heavy snowfall in winter which makes them inaccessible for devotees. 

It is believed that this yatra should start from the west and end in the east. This yatra starts from Yamunotri, then heads towards Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally ends in Badrinath. For doing this yatra you have to be very strong physically and mentally.

The Chota char Dham yatra had started in May this year. For this yatra, one can hire the best helicopter services which are available on a rental basis. This yatra starts on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya and continues till Bhai dooj. Normally anyone completes this yatra in 11 or 12 days.

  • Yamunotri: The Chota char Dham yatra starts from this place. This temple is dedicated to Yamuna Devi. The idol placed in the temple is made of black marble which looks very attractive. It is situated at the height of 3,291 meters Here you can reach by doing trekking of 6 km which starts from Jankichatti.

  • Gangotri: This place comes on the 2nd number in this yatra. This holy place is situated at the height of 3,100 meters and located on the bank of river Ganga. This temple is made of white marble. Here you can reach by doing trekking of 200 to 300 meters.

  • Kedarnath: It is the 3rd place in Char Dham yatra. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is one of the 12 divine jyotirlingas of God Shiva. Here you can reach by doing trekking of 18 km which starts from Gaurikund.

This place is situated at a height of 3.553 meters. This temple is made of giant stones.

            Connectivity: The nearest railway station is Rishikesh from this place. Jolly Grant, Dehradun is the nearest airport.

  • Badrinath: It is the last destination of Char Dham yatra. This is the only place that is a part of Char Dham and Chota Char Dham. It is also known as “Moksha Dham”.

This holy place is situated at a height of 3,300 meters and it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
